I saw the picture of your Legend in this post and realized that we pretty much own the same two cars. My wife's car is a 1994 Legend. I can't tell the year of yours from the pictures, but it looks like you have the GS.

These are our two favorite cars in the universe. It is amazing to me, but the E38 is very much an inflated Acura Legend. Almost all of the lines are the same, just in larger proportion on the E38. I would not be surprised at all if BMW had a late model Legend in their styling lab when they designed the E38.
