Subject: Stuck Door Lock?

I've got a situation and need some help... My son went to unlock an already unlocked driver's door last night and accidentally put it in deadlock mode. I was able to get it out of deadlock, but the driver's side door still won't unlock. When I turn the key in the lock, I can get the other three doors to lock again, and when I turn the key to the left, I can hear a clunk in the driver's door, so I think it might be a case of a sticky locking mechanism, exacerbated by the cold temps we're having (it was -7 F this morning!)

I'd like to pull the door apart and clean/lube the mechanism, but first I need to get the door OPEN! I let the car run a while to get well warmed up this morning, but still no joy on getting it unlocked. I tried gently pulling up on the inside door lock knob, and got nowhere with that. So the door is STILL locked. While I'm able to crawl over the console to get in the driver's seat, I don't enjoy it. At all.

On a side note, is there any way to disable the deadlock business? Since buying the car a couple of months back, three people in my family (including me!) have accidentally deadlocked the thing. That's one 'feature' BMW certainly could've deleted from the list and made people happier.
