Hello!

I need to replace the camchains on my 540, due to an fault with the plastic liners that the chains run on. (no the chains are not broke and they have not jumped, just want to replace them)

I came over some repairinstructions from bmw that tell that i need to remove the engine from the car, lift both cylinder heads, and the upper oilsump. I really dont think this is necessery just for removing the buttom timing case cover?

I just wanted to see if anyone have done this and knew why it would be necessery to remove the engine and the upper oilsump and heads!
