Now that I've finally got my hands on an M62 engine to swap into the E34, I have a whole bunch of questions, I have to do this because all Nikasil blocks here are bad and no good ones are left, 4.0 alusil is very rare, and M62's are plenty.

I'm now faced with the dillema of either doing an M6x hybrid (M62 block and M60 heads, or just fit the whole M62 engine and adapt the OBD I to work with it which might be easier, but not sure if the older DME 3.3 ingnition curves will work on an M62 timing wise as they have different cam timing?

Also would the M60 exhaust manifolds bolt up to the M62 or would I have to start cutting?

It wouldn't be a problem modyfying the cam and crank sensors


Does anybody have any info on the ignition timing differences between the two engines?
