Some may recognize me from the e38 board. I've been bitten by the bug to get a newer version of the e38 and found a couple low mile sports. While looking at one, I stopped by the BMW dealer to see what they might have. I drove my first e60, a 525 and liked it. While I was looking at it, a good lookin' lady bought the car.

This morning, the salesman called me to say they had just taken in an '04 545 Sport w/53K on it> It's white/sand with Nav. I trotted by there and drove it...me likey! They are willing to swap me for my e38 ('98 w/153K) and $18K. I'm torn between the silky classic lines of the e38 and the new angular shape of the 545. And the ride of the 7...is amazing!

One of the things I love about the e38 is, I'm a big DIY guy (with the boards support). So I'm wondering if the 545 has the same issues as the e38...intake, radiator, water pump, valve cover gaskets, thrust arms? Can one DIY on these?

Thanks

'98 740iL w/155K Let's see what problems turn up...replace fuel tank (crack), water pump, outside driver's door handle, t-stat, fan clutch (insurance), plugs, air & fuel filter, front struts, brake pads, a/c blower motor, tilt wheel motor, fuel pump, new hoses...

'97 740iL 185K SOLD
Mods: washed, put fresh air in tires, trimmed throttle sticking insulation Replaced intake gskets, CCV, water pump, t-stat, fan clutch, a/c fan motor, instrument pixels (thanks BMWNA)
