Subject: Clutch burned after 9K miles
Author: rishabht : member since May, 2005 : 2 posts

I have a 2004 BMW 325 Ci 5 Speed MT with 9K miles on it. My saturday night partying turned into horror when the clutch on my car started to smoke and it had to be towed to the dealer.

Today afternoon the dealer told me that the clutch is slipping and will have to be replaced. They are charging me north of $1000 to replace the clutch (just the discs, flywheel is extra if it is needed to be replaced) and not covering it under warranty. I called up BMW NA and they coldly told me that the clutch is not covered since it is subject to wear and tear like tires.

I wanted to know if anyone had similar problems where their clutch had worn out too quickly in regular day to day driving with proper rev matching between shifts etc...

Also would like to have an opinion on the price quoted to me by the dealer, if I am being taken for a ride that is and if it is ok for BMW to refuse warranty coverage...
