So I found the car not a mile from my home on Tuesday. It had a ticket on it from Monday street cleaning. My guess is that the person who took it on Friday night simply walked up with my spare key, unlocked it and drove it a mile, opened the trunk and took my laptop. Then LOCKED it!? and walked away.

It's good to have the car back, but the person who took my car/ laptop still has access to it b/c they still have the key. The BMW dealership says $1100 for labor (4 hours of labor) and $1100 for parts to rekey and program the car.

Any ideas on what else I can do here? It's a 2005, so I am not sure if an independent dealer (the one I use for my e39 wagon is closed today) would have the ability to reprgram an e60 computer.
