The air brush has the advantage of not leaving brush strokes! That is the main reason I used it. I had never used an air brush before so there is a short learning curve involved but, it is fairly easy to get used to. Make sure you put enough coats on though and thoroughly cover you seats. I could have used one more coat on mine to get rid of some shadows! There are several methods one can use to apply the dye. I guess it all depends on ones means!

One caution. As I mentioned in my earlier post, if you choose to use the air brush, you must ventilate the mist/fog you will create during the spraying process to the outside. I had spray dust all over everything including my cars.

As to diluting the dye, yes you use water. You do not want to dilute the dye too much, if memory serves, about 10% or so. You have to get the consistency right for spraying. It really does not take much water though. I did have some problems with the air brush clogging so you will need to keep it busy spraying otherwise even a small amount of down time will have a tendency to clog the nozzle. The instructions recommend bottled water claiming that tap water might have a tendency to discolor the dye. I used distilled water to be on the safe side.(only $1 per gallon at K-Marts!)

Regardless of whichever method you choose to apply the dye with, in my opinion, the whole process is very forgiving. Even after the final dye coat has cured for the recommended 48 hours, you can still use emery paper and sand imperfections out. I had several runs and heavy dye build up here and there and I was still able to completely get rid of simply by sanding with first 600 grit then finishing with 1000 grit.

(Remember to expect the unexpected and don't get discouraged!!)
Thanks, Bob
