Subject: UPDATE: today it wouldn't turn at all

This morning it was around 25 degrees F and the starter wouldn't turn over. The lights in the car were nice and bright. I tried to start the car in neutral and ran the shifter through all gears, but no luck.

Later around 1 in the afternoon, I took out the shifter position switch (2 allen screws and an electrical connector) and gave that a look. It was pretty dirty, so I broke out the Q-tips and rubbing alcohol and cleaned it up. While I was at it I polished the console plate with some Old English scratch remover.

Once it was all reconnected it started no problem. Hopefully it was just a dirty switch. It had warmed up about 10 degrees between the problem and the repair. Time will tell.
