That mileage gauge works off of a vacuum hose that connects to the
main hose feeding the air to the throttle body--it just plugs in
on the side--you should be able to see it back behind the mass air flow sensor back a couple of feet or so--if there's a break in that
hose it might be where your whistle is coming from--also back behind
the intake there is a couple of vac hose's that get old and break
check there as well.
