Subject: Re: A record for low milage E38? 80 miles on the odometer...

The problem with that car is that fact that it ONLY has 80 mile on it. That means that the engine was never broke in, and I'm sure there's some dry rot on the rubber on the exterior of the car. The next owner will probably drive away and within the first few hundred miles, he will probable have problems, with the engine, transmission or any other system that has sat idle for 8 years.

It's just like with Harley Davidson motorcycles. You always hear about how this guys bike leaks badly, or has mechanical problems. Then you ask him how old the bike is and how many miles it has on it. The response is always something like it's 3+ years old and I only ride it a few miles on nice weekends. They have problems with them because they aren't used. Mine Road King has over 70,000 miles on it and I ride it nearly every day and it has never leaked a drop of oil or failed me.

I would be wary of buying that E38
