In my Jan 2006 produced E66, I was strugling to transfer the phone book which was not happening at all. Since I was using Nokia E90 Communicator which is not listed in any list with any dealer as BMW recommended phone. Almost gave up and thought it was good enough that I can receive and make calls hands free but deep down I had not given up.

I started comparing Bluetooth software version and specs of recommended and approved phones. My phone had different one, so time to make the change. Long story short, got it working and phone book also transfered. It did not take all the numbers (perhaps there is limit on number of contacts plus I had over 1000 contacts in my phone book). In case of more than one number per name e.g, mobile, office, home, fax etc.Screen shot is funny. some numbers with "*" marking some with "H" some with "F".

Attached is the image for those who are using approved phone successfully and have similar issues or atleast understand why it is happening?



More over, how about SMS text messages, not possible? in voice command list, option is there but reply comes "not available".
