I am using a stain and polyurethane in one product. I've applied one coat to the smaller door panel.

If you take a look at the pics, you'll see a discolouring of the panels (some have lighter spots on them than others due to sanding) ... the whiter part stands out quite a bit after the first coat... but we'll see after the second.

I will take another crack at sanding it down so that the colours are even.
