stretching it for the OEM plugs. Mine definitely showed some aging after 77k miles. Anyway, as some of you recall from an earlier post Linky I have been debating whether I should change spark plug after 77k miles. On occasions it felt like I might have been getting some misfire. My car is an 2001 and they have never been changed. Anyway, I went ahead and pick up some plugs this weekend from Kragen and went at it. Thanks for the advise from everyone on my earlier post. I have to say this is a very easy DYI. I got all I needed from e38.org. I used .
Jay in Florida's write Here are some pictures from my install.

First I removed the engine cover by pressing down on the 4 little circles on top. That was just to easy.

Here it is removed

Next I, removed the side cover to get to the coils and plugs. I just remove the 2 bolts on each side with a 10mm socket

Next make sure to lable the coils so you can put them back together the way you took it apart. I guess this step is important since it will cause problems down the road. Regarless, I wasn't going to find out.

Next lift up the little clips to release the wiring harness from the coil.

Next remove all the bolts holding down the coils. Also 10mm

Here is a picture of the spark plugs. There was little bit of oil but not much. I had my valve covers repalce and valley pan a few month ago, so most likely from that.

Next un screw the plugs. Mine were in there pretty tight, but nothing a little muscle would get out. Here is a picture of the old plug.

Old and new next to each other. Notice the part number on the box, i went with the NGK instead of the Bosch. I am sure the Bosch would work just as good.

Grease up the thread with a little Anit-seize and but everything back together the way you took it apart.

I tightened the plugs with a torque wrench at 21-23 lbs. and voila, back in there.

The car fired right up and definitely is running smother. I cheap and simply way to keep your car up to par.
