Well, I've had to cover all the possible bases on this one -

1. Checked and cleaned all bulbs, replaced all with nickel plate bases

2. Replaced brake light switch under dash (based on NHTA report)

3. Re-soldered Mustard relay (later model with less circuitry inside)

4. Today, took apart the CCM module - newer model with 44/2001 date on the case - no visible problems with solder.

5. Today, took apart the LKM (mine has LKM US-L which apparently is a replacement for ECE-L which should have originally been on this National Germany version car. This newer US-L unit is a single circuit board type, that was apparently changed when the car was Federalized around 2002. It is now the three relay type. I re-soldered each relay connection EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS NO VISIBLE DEFECT IN THE SOLDER.

When I re-installed the LKM there was NO MORE 1-BRAKE LIGHT MESSAGE!!!
