recommended. After reading some of the recent posts and the results some of you had after replacing them, well I got the urge to replace mine. My car is an 01 740IL with 77K miles and they have never been replaced. I know that BMW recommends replacing them at 100K, am I jumping the gun and wasting my time? Since a lot of you had such great result doing it earlier and I need a project to work on, I figured I would give it try.

I called the dealer and they recommend Bosch plugs High Output Platinum, which they claim are $19.98 a piece. Is that really how expensive they are, or is this another dealer rip off. Seems very high to me. I asked them why they were so expensive and they say because they are 100k plugs. The Bosch part number I got was 0141871, which is most likely a BMW part number. They also said they primarily use NGK plugs which are 22.98 a piece. When I checked online I found these NGK Spark Plugs

In some of the post I read, most people were using the Bosch platinum 4 spark plugs. I looked on line and there seem to be many different versions of them. Which are the most recommended? And are these 100k plugs as well or not, they just seem way cheaper. Bosch Platinum 4

Bottom line is that I am confused and don’t know which ones are the way to go. Definitely don’t want to spend $160 plus what the dealer recommends. Any advise would be much appreciated.
