Subject: Coolant system bleed

Hi all.

Car overheated and was towed home. (I just replaced water pump, thermo and radiator a month ago - with no issues til now).

I'm concerned that I did not properaly fill coolant system as I never bled anything. My Bentley manual is confusion as it says: "On radiators with a seperate expansion tank, a bleed screw is not provided. The cooling system with separate expansion tank is self bleeding via the vent hose on the expansion tank".

I believe my car, 95 325i Convertible, has this seperate expansion tank. It's on the passenger side of the radiator. It has a bleed screw.

When I do the process they way they say, "turn ignition to ON (do not start car) and turn interior climate controls to full warm" and that coolant will percolate up & out and when it does so with no air bubbles, you're all set. I've twice done this - and today for about 15 minutes and there ain't nothing coming out of that bleed hole. The coolant is filled to the "Cool" line on the expansion tank.

Can someone shed light on me here and let me konw what I might be missing?

Thanks,

Jay
