Subject: Re: The Falken website even has a PSI table...and 51 psi is not what you

Telling someone to run their current technology, low profile tires at the 2001 recommend specs of 33psi front/41psi rear is just inviting faster wear and possible tire failure at highway speeds. Do you think that a semi-truck's tire explodes because the driver over inflated it? Not even close. Tire failure occurs because tires are UNDER inflated which causes more friction and thus higher tire temps.

I've been a motorcycle rider for over 20 years and a motorcycle safety instructor for over 5 years and the effects of under or over inflation on two wheels is MUCH more critical. That is also why some modern tire makers DON'T put the recommended inflation pressures on their tires. My Harley originally came with Dunlop tires with a recommended inflation psi of 30/32. When they wore out I switched to Metzlers which are are much better quality tire. Metzler actually has a chart for each brand AND model of motorcycle for each size tire that fits that model and what the recommended psi is. The recommended psi for the Metzler on my Road King is 40/42. If I had gone by the manufacturer's recommendation, I would be running 10psi low and would have worn my tires out MUCH sooner.

Bottom line, don't just blindly follow the car makers recommendation that was based on tire technology that is almost 10 years old. Do a little research first.
