He sold them both and doesnt have BMWs anymore.

Best engine for the E65 is the 3.0litre petrol, closely followed by the 3.0diesel. Mind you neither in the US.
Why the petrol first? Well it won't digest a little spinning fan thing on the intake and ripping the engine to bits. Also no expensive particulate filter to be replaced at 90,000 miles.

Other issues I have had with my E65:
Satnav DVD - on my third one now, been fine for a while though.

Parking sensor - right rear went faulty. fixed two weeks ago.

Starter motor - dead at 40,442 miles

Dodgy battery - at 40,442 miles too

HVAC thingy in the dash, took a fit one day and went mad, couldnt adjust it.

And thats it. So far.
