Subject: SUCCESSFUL IPOD integration!!!

After several weeks of research, evaluating variety of products and options, I’ve decided to pursue IPOD integration using Dension IceLink+ kit. I’m not going to go into details, but this is THE BEST IPOD integration with BMWs available on the market. PERIOD!
The kit even supports ID3 text display on Nav (or MID) screen. It’s in beta, but I do have early access to the needed files…
However, as many other aftermarket kits, IceLink+ leverages CDC 3pin and coaxial input into DSP and acts as CDC– another words, I would have loose factory CDC in favor of IPOD. I didn’t want to settle for this, and designed distribution box (3pin and audio) with remote control (switch) that would allow me to toggle between CDC and IPOD. I researched and found all necessary connectors from AMP and TYCO, relay, switch and aluminum enclosure to make it total PnP and OE look.
I opted for trunk installation option – I had to run 1 fairly thick wire from the trunk all the way to the center console. I followed the phone harness route, including the center tunnel.(boy, that was fun!!!)

I’ll post some pictures in a few days….
