Subject: I'll speak for myself here, not that I'm taking your response personally...

I didnt ask white America to do any type of song or dance for me or any other minority. I'm way past that. I guess the issue for me is expectation of what I see or is discussed on this board, and I recognize it as purely my issue. I don't expect to come on Bimmerboard and be faced with SHIT like someone can go back to Africa. I agree with several points you made. In my opinion we are WAY past the "I or my/our people were opressed" foolishness. I for one have "made it" so to speak, so I can't even make that arguement. Does it mean that all of the world is teaching each other to sing and buying Cokes? No, it will NEVER be like that and is totally unrealistic.

I could sit and type all of my surprising and feel good stories of race relations here too, and back them up with 10 that are totally F'ed up. Small pockets? I appreciate your optimism my man but I think you are way off. And I mean ALL racism, because it is equally if not MORE rampant in the reverse of what is traditionally thought of. But you know it'a alot like roaches...many fine restaurants probably have roaches or some other some other critters or rodents running around somwhere prior to you getting your food. It's not an issue as long as you don't see it. When a roach, even a small little baby one, runs across your table - then what do you do?

As far as the JJ and Imus references...JJ has almost no relevance anymore IMO. Both him and Sharpton need to go somewhere and sit down. Imus also has little relevance. That whole thing was blown out of proportion. Was is offensive? Certainly. Should he have lost his job? I think not. He did nothing more than say something significantly more mild than most other people are thinking. But the issue, as you alluded to, is more about how minorities (blacks in particular) portray themsleves. Alot of the music is ridiculous and disgusting, and WAY worse that anything Imus could ever think or say. Playing the "victim" is old news and VERY played out. And don't even get me started on work ethic, both perceived and actual.

I guess it's foolish and Utopian for me to think I can come to an internet message board, that I have been a part of since it's inception and have become a respected (I think) member and moderator of, and stay behind the keyboard without anyone ever knowing the hue of the fingers doing the typing - or getting offended by subject matter. My "face in the game" thread took care of that long ago. I make absolutely no apologies for it and stand by the fact that I think some discusions have no business being conducted. It simply becomes too personal and heated. I have no hard feelings towards anyone and will labor under the assumption that the reverse holds true. Back to regularly scheduled programming....
