My wife has a 2002 325i and she has been complaining that her sun shield for the sunroof was getting stuck and it was making cracking noise. I finally went to take a look at it sure enough the sun shield fell off the tracks and did some damage to the liner. I pulled the shield out of its tracks and noticed that it had bent the hell out of the brackets (I guess that’s what you would call it) on the one side. It even broke off the ends. Here are few pictures.

This what the bracket or whatever you would call it looks like. This one is only slightly bent.

This is what the other end looks like. Holly crap, man that is messed up, no wonder it was cracking and getting stuck

The other side of the shield looks like. This side you might be able to replace the bracket, if you can get just that part. Unfortunately, these are fine.

The side that is broke looks like this when you turn over the shield. Notice that the bracket is not held on with screws instead it looks like the bracket is connect from the liner side.

I don’t think you can just replace the brackets my guess I am stuck buying the entire shield. If so, how difficult is to get that thing back in. I know taking it out didn’t seem easy.
