...you'll use the rear center belt to secure the carseat bottom/base to the middle seat of the car. Because the seat has to face backwards when they're that small, you're pretty much just using the center seatbelt to secure the car seat. Out of our 3 cars, our '05 Outback is the only with with the LATCH system, but it is convenient.

99% of carseats today (not sure what model you have) have a rear tether with a LATCH-style clip on it. Not sure there's any way to use this while your baby is rear-facing, but when he/she is big enough to face forward (20 lbs), you'll need to flip the seat around and loosen the rear tether enough to clip onto the center anchor point in the middle of your photo above. Piece of cake.
