Subject: NAVI02 Problem

Well, with only one week left on my OEM warranty, problems are beginning to pop up like dandelions in spring.

The latest: My NAVI02 system (replaced under warranty last fall) is displaying odd vehicle headings! I always use Direction of Travel for orientation. What I have found lately is that while the GPS compass pointer correctly points north, the roads that I'm travelling on are often out of sync. For example, heading west on an east-west road, the display has me travelling on a road 45 degrees to the left of straight up. In other words, the map display shows me on a course of 225 degrees, instead of 270, and all other streets are similarly canted. Here in Northern Indiana, lots of our roads are straight on compass points, so this isn't simply me being confused - this problem really exists.

The dealer told me that they were checking other cars in their inventory to see if they all did this (i.e., they are looking for a way to avoid replacing the unit again). Seems to me that the GPS is working fine; it's the computer interface between the GPS and the map software or data that's on the blink.

Any ideas? Thanks for your help!
