misconceptions about that car. First, BMW only created tooling for around 5,500 cars (5,824 were actually produced). It was always intended for limited production to build a "halo" car. Second, it sold very well. I waited in line for 3 years to get mine. If you want further proof, look at the resale value. A five to eight year old Z8 with reasonable mileage will still fetch near $100K. A real low mileage car in excellent condition will fetch sticker. I know a couple of club members that have recently paid that much for excellent cars. Compare a Mercedes SL55/65 or Porsche Turbo, which sold for the same as the Z8 when new, and you will see that the resale value of the Z8 is much, much higher.

BTW, the 2000 Z8 sold for $127K; prices rose and by the end of production in 2003, the sticker was $135K.
