Just grab the front one and give a good shake with your hand in every direction you can. The parts car I just got has a blown front ujoint, it moves about 1/2 inch. Very noticable shake when taking off from a standstill. I also noticed a distinct metallic clink when shifting from "R" to "P". I was hoping it was just the center bearing because that's easily replaced.

For the center support, the bearing is surrounded by rubber, so there's alittle play. You really have to get in there and look to be sure on that one. When that rubber lets go completely, is when you get the thumping on the tunnel.

I really don't know how to check the rear CV joint at the differential.
