Subject: ok i made the cable, take a look see.....

here is my homemade 4-core shielded cable. and the pins all connect to the correct locations. note: went to dealer and picked up some new pin contacts with wire leads attached to them (they are solid black in color)

i got the shield from a coaxial cable. i stripped off the rubber insulation and slid off the braided shield onto my 4 wires (FL+-,RL+-). i also slid over the foil shield over the braided shield and then wrapped all of it back with rubber insulation and taped it all around with electrical tape. There is no way in hell this cable will ever pick up interference. I twisted the ends of the braided shield and soldered the pin contact to the end of it.

in pic 3, you can see how it is soldered. the braided wire actually did not stick to the solder for some reason, even when i used the flux liquid. but the copper wire took it well and it stuck to the braided wires well. i gave it a tug it was firm. so there should be good contact there.

then...... the conclusion........

it didnt work. no signal, no music, nothing. i checked the voltage ratings of the amp's input wires (coming from radio) and the reading at times was around .2 volts and at other times, nothing, 0. same voltage readings even when fm radio was on, but the radio played from the speakers as usual.

i think i am now absolutely clinically insane. i am really starting to give up on this, and going back to the dsp amp after all this work is just not an option. i dont know what else to do. can anyone think of why this is not working? or suggest any other method of having my alpine amp and cdc connected and having volume controlled by the ibus (steering wheel + OBC)?
