Subject: LOST BRAKES

Returning home yesterday evening before arriving home notice that there were no brakes and brake pedal was hitting firewall. I thought it was the power booster or master cylinder were history. However, the problem was a brake hose down flow from ABS servo unit. Arrived home pumping brake pedal while loosing all the brake fluid [few blocks... no accidents or panic. Here are some of the pictures of these brake hoses near BMW diagnostic plug down stream from ABS servo unit. These hoses are merely 5" long [12.5 cm].. there size is 10mm and 12mm. The 10mm hose busted open as on picture... the cost to replace both hose available at BMW dealer was $65.34 including sales tax.

Looking down from right of the car [BMW diagnostic no shown because it was removed]. The brake on the left is 10mm and the right is 12mm.
BMW part no. 34-32-1-162-616 [10mm]
BMW part no. 34-32-1-162-612 [12mm]

This is the 10mm brake hose that busted open loosing a stream of brake fluid as brake pedal was pressured.

Here another view of the busted 10mm brake hose

In this picture are both hoses side by:

Removal requires a good set of metric flare wrench [metric crow-foot wrenches are helpful, too], patience and tolerance because there is merely no room to work. The fitting are likely to be very tight
