Well, there's a happy ending to my story about transmission problems on my 2002 E66.

After getting stonewalled at Harloff BMW, n/k/a BMW of Encinitas (CA) ("Sorry, we can't replicate your problem"), I moved to Indiana. I took my car to Basney BMW in South Bend, where they happily reprogrammed the transmission per the service bulletins Mr. Carey has posted. Worked fine for a while, but then the coasting jolt, clunks and abrupt shifts started again.

Now, less than two months before my warranty expires, I was told by the service advisor that a second programming attempt was unsuccessful, and that BMW would be replacing my transmission with a brand new one! Woo hoo!

I'm very pleased, and looking forward to the new tranny. I'll post again once it is installed.
