I have a 01 540i with the M sport suspension non electronic... It seems something on my right rear side has gone bad as the car is sitting lower on that side and now rubbing against the side wall of that tire which are now 18's as it came with M double spoked 17's. I tried to replace the shocks/struts myself but could not get that back pannel off in order to acess the top of the shock/strut. Have any of you heard of or had this problem before?

Thank you Jim and Roderick for your posts as I have just finished installing the new rear spring and struts, however the right rear wheel is still rubbing.

Has anyone had this issue and if so what was the cause. I have taken it to a local shop but they really didn't seem to know what the problem was and was going to charge me a $90 diagnostic fee which I would have happily paid if they knew what the heck the were doing... : /
