No experience with the eta motor, but both of my e28 535s have consistently gotten 28 mpg on the highway and 14-16 mpg in everyday mixed driving. I was surprised to see that the EPA's fuel economy web site (www.fueleconomy.gov) shows 14 city but only 19 highway, and this has been downgraded from the original window sticker estimates of 15/21. I don't drive slowly on the highway, either, so EPA is way off, in my experience.
