Subject: Mk4 location is 'off' several streets. Any ideas?

I have just updated from the Mk 3 in my 2001 e38 with widescreen display to a Mk 4 DVD and notice a perplexing error on the display, which seems to put the vehicle several blocks "behind" where it actually is. I do have an old 2004 data DVD but don't know if it is the problem. For example, say I am driving along 'Avenue B' and come to an intersection with a cross street "Street A", the display shows me correctly proceeding on Avenue B but the vehicle position is a block or two BEFORE Street A... This is true even for established roads that would have been there well before the 2004 DVD. Is there a way to 'sync' the locations? Or will an updated DVD do the trick? The Mk 3 that I just removed was completely accurate, BTW.
