Hi all!

Bit of history first - just to let you know how nuts I am :)

First BMW was a 1982 e23 735i (that somehow didn't have the pointy nose) import from the UK. I still have it and currently using it until I get the brake pads done on the other car.

After this I upgraded to a '87 e32 735i. Lovely car, and wish I still had it. Of course with that came some problems with stepper motors in the dash etc etc. But anyway, that's in the past - I'm now the proud owner of a '95 e38 740iL. Marked improvement, as much as I loved the e32.

I've had the car about a year now, and have been buying the bits for a navigation computer to be fitted.

I bought a bunch of gear off a chap on ebay and it all arrived. I was going on holidays so didn't have much time to play with it and so it got put to the wayside. I eventually tested that the drive worked etc, so that was cool. Then I realise the mounting bracket was from an E39.

So I bought the correct one for the E38. Only to find out that the studs in my car are for some reason in the wrong spot for the bracket to mount!

Silly thing is, if I look at the etk, the picture in the etk actually shows what I should have.. the mounting points are in the right spots, but the part number is definitely the one I have. The bottom ones are correct and match up to the amp frame with no issues. So i'm basically going to have some sort of mount fabricated (no worries there, I have a father that is a welding engineer). Now I am finally getting to the point, the carpet cover for the CD player / NAV computer. Obviously when you buy the kit, you get a template that you can use to cut out the hole for the NAV computer to pop out from. Because of the way my bracket sits, I would like to cut the hole in the correct place, so I know where I have to mount my custom bracket to have it sit correctly.

Anyway, does anyone have this template, or access to a boot panel that they could possibly fold a piece of paper around the bend and trace the cd player hole and nav hole so that i can match it to mine and cut out the nav computer hole in the correct position? Any other ideas even? :)

Thanks guys, look forward to some replies :)

Joe
