I've been mulling over the +/- pattern of our steptronics. It's more normal (instinct) to pull back on the shift lever to go from 1st to 2nd, while it feels more normal to push forward to go from 2nd to first. To me, the steptronic has always been backwards on our 7s. The newer X5s & 5 series now have the more instinctive push for a gear down, pull for a gear up. I read that the up/down +/- can be reversed easily, so I tried it. Popped up the flat black shift console on the wood console, found the maroon 4 wire connector on the very right hand side of the shift gear/lever & switched the 2 middle wires (the purple & blue ones). Re-assembled & Voila! I now pull back to go from 1st to 2nd (or to 3rd, 4th..), & push forwards for 3rd to 2nd... Much more instinctive to me.

Now, I need to figure out what to do with the +/- on the sport/manual side of the flat black shift console area. I need to switch the + with the -. Plus, I've got to re-learn the up & down shift/push pull thing!
