Ok, here is the parts list and diagram for the new exhaust.

A few notes:

-First we did end up with the Magnaflow Catalytic converter, I misunderstood my exhaust guy. I included the info on the Catco though.

-Make sure you find a very skilled exhaust man, because you need it welded as tight as possible in relation to the under body. It does reduce ground clerance. Also a custom mid hanger will be needed since that will be gone. My guy used rebar and a U- clamp with some washers oon the 745, the 733 already had a hanger from the Metric Mechanic exhaust years ago.

-The tips are key to reducing in cabin noise. My chrome tips are just a half an inch or so before crossing the plane of the rear bumper. Also don’t clamp them on, weld them, there should be a solid set of welds from the manifold joint to the tips, save the V Clamp of course.

-The glasspack is in essence a resonator. They tend to last between 2-5 years, but can go longer. The unit my guy used was one he had on the shelf, but it is supposed to be the same as the Summit house brand, which I list bellow. It will cost about 50.00 to replace, and 20.00 for the part every few years, not a big deal.

-For sportier sound, leave off the glasspack. Indeed the exhaust from Metric Mechanic, which was originally on this car, did not have anything but the muffler and cat.

-This system, done right, is just a little offset to on side of the shaft tunnel. With the removable joint, there is ample access to the center bearing and guibo, even though the pipe immediately out of the cat does cross the line of the shaft a bit.

The prices (Summit Racing):

Muffler 92.95
Cat 96.95
Glass Pack 19.95
V Clamp 43.95

Total parts: 253.77 plus shipping.

Labor was 150.00, with the custom bending and piping included. It maybe higher in some areas, less in others.

Here is the diagram and links to parts:

Here is the MM exhaust page. The don't make an e23 unit anymore, but the one my PO bought back in 1994 was just like these. 1095.00 for the setup...
