Dont put any additives with the Amsoil. the poly-alpha-olefin molecule in the base stock of that oil has a natural detergency action but is also a strong lubricating film that won't break down, unless you start adding things to it.
If your engine has false seals from sludge amsoil will dissolve those in time, and you could start having leaks through there. i.e. you may gradually get a little oil weeping at the head gasket. Actually their oil is engineered to cause a 4% swelling of the seals to tighten them. But if you are having leaks, after a couple of weeks when smoking stops, if it takes that long, change back to petroleum oil. Amsoil is too expensive to use if there is much leaking. It will hurt nothing to change back to petroleum oil after running synthetic.

If you have low oil pressure your engine may be worn out, too large clearances, and Amsoil won't help. However, unless you have 300,000 + miles, on that M30, or had some awfully strange abuse, your lower block is likely NOT worn out,.. I would put money on it being sludged with deposits instead. If original, the rings are chrom plated nodular iron, extremely low wear, no breakage, long lived materials, that are way more expensive to produce. You can take an e 23 ring and twist it like a pretzel. i assume the rest of the engine was designed for longevity too. i've got 300K and no oil burning on mine.

Amsoil flush will load up your filter very fast, so a filter change right after the flush. after 1 or 2 weeks running synthetic do another.
I put Amsoil in an engine so bad that the oil was caked up over an inch thick in the heads literally baked into a solid. lifters were sticking bad and loud. sounded like self destructing, it was smoking oil bad. After two weeks of amsoil you could not hear a hint of a lifter and no smoke under any condition. That was a 1972 mercury with 351 cleveland 2 barrel and 120,000 miles. it ran very strong after that & I wanted to keep it forever. The body went south 40,000 later, but engine still strong.
