From what I've read these engines are built with one cheap rebuild in mind. The original rings are soft (I also suspect the block has a high nickel content)and there is often NO ridge in the top of the cylinder bore, hence no need for reboring. So if you saw no no ridge when you did the cylinder head you can probably get by with just a quick hone job, rings, rod bearings, gaskets, and new rod and head bolts...
