Hello Sanders,

Perhaps i missed your post whereby it was determined that CV Nav unit was bad but that is unlikely with the symptoms i have read in your earlier post.

Now may i suggest based on my personal experience that i had with my E66 745Li 2003 model.

These cars during the production years of 02 and 03 had some issues and unfortunately year 02 had little more issues than the later one 03s.

LKM (CD or Cassette head unit) is the brain in this car which controlls most or all of the electronics in the car. If your CD Changer magazine comes out by itself, you hear distortion from left or right speakers (if you have logic 7, clicking sound comes when adjusting logic sound level) then problem is with the head unit.

Depending on miles on your car, dealership will consider if you qualify for goodwill warranty or not?

Upgrading software is yet another issue which can lead to other problems which are not there at this point in time. When they upgrade software in one component that will develope conflict with other components and they will do only as much as it could be matched without any trouble.

I have doubts that your nav unit is bad.

you can type "nadeem" in search and find all my posts about similar and you will find good information covering this issue. Should you still need more information, please let me know or drop me an e mail.

But if it is established that nav unit needs to be replaced, putting a DVD unit will not be a bad idea but one thing will be helpful before doing it to check if you have earlier type of display unit or later one. Later one is better with dvd as it has better brightness.

You can find out which type of display unit you have is to go to settings and if you find brightness cont. you have newer type otherwise older one.

All the best,

Nadeem
