I got my Vanos repair kit installed today by a BMW specialist. I original ones were hard and completey plastisized. And as the writeup mentioned, the intake side was completely loose, the teflon seals however are in good condition.

First startup after the repair was smoother than i expected, no hiccups and a very smooth idle. Initial driving impressions are the following

1. Overall engine smoothnes and a crisper sound when flooring it. Its the same feeling you get when you install new engine mounts.

2. Less tendencey to shift down ( mine is auto )..so the car can now ride the 2000-4000RPM range in the same gear up to about three quarter of the pedal travel then kicksdown.

3. General feeling that the car is lighter during start-stop acceleration.

I will report back after about 100miles of city driving
