Subject: I see - sounds like this module may not be best for rear view + dvd then

Thanks for explaining that. It's sounding like while it's possible to do a rear view camera + a dvd player with this module, it may not be the most economical or easiest way to go.

Rather, something like the PIE video input moudule (which 04sshd sells for some kind of discount off the $399 list price, IIRC) would be better - it has 2 composite video inputs, neither is speed controlled, one is triggered by reverse, and it comes with a harness that is plug and play with the exception of power and ground. I think a a company called Navtool also sells a device nearly identical to the PIE unit. Then figure out your audio input (aux in or perhaps a wired FM modulator?) and you've got rear camera and DVD to the nav screen for 1/2 the price of the full blown BMW TV video module. Only drawback I can see v. the thousand dollar BMW TV setup is that you don't get extra outputs to rear screens from the PIE video module, at least I don't think you do.

Now, for just a rear view camera, your way with this BMW module would be my preferred route - as I think it's always better to use a BMW part v. an aftermarket part when costs are similar, makes for a much cleaner install and probably a longer service life.
