Subject: Fixed my separating door panels...

I posted before that the top of my door panel trim was separating from the backing board.

I fixed the poblem by removing the panels from the doors using instructions found on e38.org then gluing and clamping.

I used this glue which is water based, easy to work with and has stronger adhesion than similar solvent based glues (according to the manufacturer).


I then used some timber pieces to clamp the trim and allowed each door panel to dry for a few days.


When refitting, I first removed the chrome trim at the top of each door. I found it easier to remount the panels with the chrome piece off and when the chrome piece is refitted and pressed back down into the clips it presses the top of the door panel down and holds it firmly in place.

Looks as good as new. Lets see how long it lasts.
