Subject: mysterious emergency EML reset for 750....

Since years I read about this procedure from time to time, when a 750 suddenly has problems with the EML light, recently someone was instructed by a road service guy or the BMW hotline to do so, it was said: (translated from German 7-Forum)

1. All doors, hood and trunk must be closed (not locked). Open the drivers door WIDE

2. Now close the drivers door and lock the car.

3. Unlock the car again and again open the drivers door WIDE.

4. Sit down on driver's seat and close the drivers door (NOT locking)

5. Push the brake pedal and keep it pushed down.

6. Now insert the ignition key into the ignition lockand set it on position 1.

7. Remove your foot from brake pedal (release) and remove the key from the ignition key.

Then you engine should (temporarily) run without EML message, = no limpmode

This procedure is said to reset the ECU/EML on a 750 engine.

Sounds like magic, but I have read that already several times now, even someone from Hungary sent me an emal and said it works.
But the faults are said to be still in the ECU.

I do not know how that works, but maybe someone can try that next time he has a problem with EML light/limpmode.

Would be glad if someone could give a feed back after trying that magic thing.
