I specify 4 hours labor for the seals installation. Your mechanic might think this is a low estimate, especially for the first time he performs this repair.

The boiling water is not necessary. I’m looking to take this out of the procedure.

The new seals will resolve your cold morning idle issue and introduce significant performance improvements. The car is reborn. It’s amazing what these little seals will do.
It does take ~500 miles of city driving to break-in the seals and achieve the significant performance improvements. Driving the car hard will shorted this period.
