Subject: Cup holder question 98 740

The cup holder came apart a while ago, and I've been putting off fixing it.

Here's what happened. The cup holder portion rear most, with the wood trim, separated from the rest of the mechanism. It will stay closed, but if opened, the piece with the wood piece attached falls off.

There's a thin, geared piece of plastic that appears to control/facilitate the in/out movement of the holder with a tab that fits into a hole on the piece with wood on it.

Here's the question -- can I put epoxy on the end of the piece with the tab, and in the hole, and see if that holds?

Worse that can happen I figure is that the epoxy will let loose and then I'll either have to buy an aftermarket cup holder or (drum roll for german engineering) disassemble the left side of the dash area and put in a new cup holder assembly.

TIA
