Well, it’s been a fun and busy weekend and I finally found some time to post my pictures and the experience with you guys. First off, let me start by giving Henry (IBHenry) and Edwin a big thank you for all the help they gave with installing the Angel eyes and coding my car. You guys are freaking awesome and comedians, good times…good times…. I learned so much about my E38 and got a lot of cool things accomplished. The Irvine meet was awesome, it was a great to see some of the old faces and meet new E38 enthusiasts. What a great turn out and what a bunch of bad ass cars. I truly admire everyone’s hospitality and willingness to give advice and share their own E38 stories. Thanks for a wonderful time, wish I didn’t have to skip so soon.

Anyway, I started the weekend by going over to Henry’s house on Friday afternoon. Henry and Edwin were already deep into working 3 cars at once. Edwin was finishing up coding Henry’s car with help of somebody from Europe. Seem there were some problems, but nothing Edwin could figure out. With help of Edwin’s friend from Holland he dialed into Edwin PC remotely and programmed his car to European specs thousand of miles away. How cool is that. I am also jealous since Henry car now longer has a speed governor and he can roll his windows up and down with his key.

Henry was working on David’s E30 he purchased and Edwin was messing with the new convertible top on Henry’s daughters car. As soon as I got there, Henry dropped his project and help me with my Angel eyes, what a guy. It was a piece of cake with Henry’s instructions and Edwin’s suggestion to wire the AE directly into the parking lights without having to run wires all the way to the electrical box in the top left corner of the engine. The AE turned out awesome. See pictures below.

As Henry and I were working the on the AE, Edwin code my key features and installed the British voice over for the navigation. All went well. Then Saturday we went up the Irvine meet but not before I backed into a freaking truck at the car wash. That was the reason the guys met me at the BMW dealership where I was trying to get a new trim piece for my rear bumper. Fortunately, only the trim was damage and not the body or the PDC sensor. Thank god, shit like this has to always happen when you got a place to show of your car.

Then on Sunday I stopped by Henry’s again and Edwin made some final changes to my car. First of we installed the German version of the Nav voice so now I can feel like I am back home in good old Germany. Not sure if you guys knew, but I was born and raised in Germany and didn’t move to the US until I was 16. This really added a nice touch to my car since I can now say all my command in German and get my direction in my homeland language. It’s funny, because on my way home from Henry’s I had the Nav on and it told me to get on the Autobahn when I had to turn on I5 north. Guess now when I get a ticket on the freeway, I can tell the cop I was told to turn on the autobahn and didn’t think there was a speed limit. Ok, I guess that won’t work.

Finally Edwin reset my adaptive controls the same thing he did for SDMike. And boy let me tell you it really made a difference. My car immediately ran smoother. We had the engine running and as soon as Edwin selected Save with his software, the engine got quiet and the RPM went down. We took the car for a drive and the shifting was noticeable smoother. Thanks Edwin, I look forward to better gas mileage. Ok enough talking here are some pictures.
