Subject: Just had the pleasure of a 1/2 day visit from Henry and Edwin

Even after not getting much sleep last night, Henry and Edwin showed up this morning...donuts in hand...to spend some time with me and my car. I greeted Edwin with a cold Cola Cola (while I drank coffee). We were able to do several things to our cars while they were here.

First off, Edwin helped me remove my center console and I did some polishing work on it. It still needs some more effort, but it looks a helluva lot better than it did this morning.

We also gave Henry some hands-on experience with a Porter Cable orbital and some Zaino. :) First we clayed the hood, then polished it with the PC and Zaino Z-PC. We didn't spend enough time on it, but it still looks great. More time would yield even better results. Now the hood is a smooth as a mirror, and you can see every fleck of the metallic flake. There's a pic in my album.

During this Edwin was working on coding my car. He found and cleared a bunch of old error codes (probably from previous problems and owners), TURNED OFF MY DRL'S (WHOO HOO), and then reset my car's adaptive controls back to factory settings! We also managed to drain the car battery and had to jump it with Henry's car (lol!). Guess we won't leave the AE's on for 3 hours again, huh?

We only had a couple of small scares. The first one was when the car had a fit the first time it was started after coding. The engine pulsed like a giant, throbbing heart, and the engine failsafe mode came on. It did this a couple of times, and finally Edwin was able to clear this up with his PC. The other strange occurrence was that my fuel gage registered about 1/3 of a tank even though it was full. THe computer even said 39 litres out of 80. Either someone siphoned gas from me last night, or there was a problem. Pulling the negative battery cable for a couple of minutes fixed this right up.

I have to tell you, my car runs better than it ever has. Amazing how much smoother the transmission is, and how strongly the engine pulls, with the computers reset to factory specs. Even Edwin was impressed with how butter smooth everything was, and the engine pulled like a wild animal. I highly recommend that you Dallas and NorCal guys take advantage of this. What a difference!

Again, it was great to have these two guys around. I've met some of the nicest people on this board.

As always, here are some pictures:
