Here is an update to my transmission woes

by Sunday, the car’s underside looked emptier, kinda rusty too, car sat for a long time with the previous owner

that’s because we got the tranny finally removed

opened the box, had to deal with some wayward stripped bolts, those sockets u hammer over a stripped bolt head are just great.

I did finally get the cooler lines freed after the flare nut wrenches failed, but succeeded in rounding some corners, I used one of those vicegrip wrenches with a triangular cut-out to grip bolts, allowing me to break the nuts free.

of the six bolts holding the oil pan on, 3 broke off, they were just so brittle, 3 of the aluminum clamps literally fell apart too.

here are the A clutch, removed, and the B clutch in the tranny

and a lovely set of burned and scored A pack disks, the ones with the inner teeth really should not be this shiney in the middle picture but should have friction material on the surface, apologies for the oil on the lens

I guess I will go and source some replacement parts now.

I know I said I wasn’t going to remove the starter, but as my son pointed out, it did hang a few times, spun without engaging, when we tried to start.

Might as well replace the crank seal and maybe the upper and lower pan seals whilst I am at it…
