Subject: Broken Ingition switch left me stranded this evening.

And today I was just bragging to my wife about how reliable the e32 has been...

After exiting the local Advance Auto Parts this evening (they're having a 25% off sale on wiper blades), my wife put the key in the ignition and said it "felt funny". It didn't start, either. We had to call a tow truck to get the car back to our house.

The key turns freely, without resistance, in the ignition. Putting the key in what ought to be the start position does nothing. The steering wheel is locked, and power to the OBC and radio appears to be on continously, even with the key out of the ignition.

Has anyone seen this before? Does this sound like a defective cylinder or the white plastic body electrical part of the switch under the steering column?
