I did this last year. Heck of a job!

It's the foam BETWEEN headliner base and cloth that is gone - and you CAN't glue on the old cloth. You can remove cloth and foam, and put new on, but I chose to by OEM. First one came without hole for sunroof - had it changed. There's a post somwhere out there.

You'll have to take out the passengers seat to withdraw/reinstall the headliner. Be aware, if you turn on ignition while having the seat unplugged, you'll get an airbag fault message you'd have to reset with a tool. You could avoid this by operating sunroof manually.

TIS bulletin/repairmanual 51 44 011 gives the general view of work.

You'll also need

51 16 480
51 43 201
51 43 148
51 43 251
52 13 000
54 12 100
54 12 115

If you read German I can send you (i got my TIS by fault changed to an only-german-speaking version).

Maybe others can help?

The difficulties were only taking the sunroof out and in, and getting the headliner to "catch" the notch over the rear window. Used a gliding hammer to get it in after bending the clips for a wider gap.

Had pics but lost them in Hard disk breakdown....

Ask again, if you have questions - send me an email since i'm not always checking the board.
