If there are ANY loose chips or rust - get them out. Sand or use a pin head, whatever suits the damaged area.

Fill the scratch with paint. A toothpick dipped in BMW OEM touch up paint is perfect for the job. The brush on the touch up stick is crap. Forget about laquer - touch up paint is a different formulation to respray paint. Provided the area is not huge - you dont need it. Got that from a Pro.

IMPORTANT - repeat filling the scratch until the paint is above the surrounding original paint AND overlaps it. Try and leave 1 day between applications. Patience is key.

You may get away with less depending on temperature - but in Ireland, I leave the final paint application for a week so that it gets hard, hard, hard. Then sand and finish just like Edwin.
